Valencia L. Roman-Commings, was born on March 14, 1989, in Chicago, Illinois to Vernon Commings and Gladys Roman. Her father Vernon Commings and his two sons, her brothers Vernon Commings Jr. and Sedale Commings proceeded her in death.
Valencia’s faith in God was strong as a child. She was baptized into the Catholic faith and later joined Corinthian Temple Church of God in Christ under Bishop David Todd Whittley. As a child, she loved playing church after church with her cousins, dancing as if she was filled with the spirit. Through her life’s trials, she continued to dance and praise God.
Valencia attended Best Practice High School, Northen Illinois University and obtained her degree from Kishwaukee College. Valencia had a strong passion for dance. At the age of 7, her grandmother signed her up for ballet at Boitsov Classical Ballet School laying the foundation for Valencia to become the Ballerina many remember her as. She had a love for Jazz, Hip Hop, and Contemporary Lyrical dance and developed those talents while attending Joel Hall Dance Studio. Her love for dance lead her to become a dance instructor at St. Agatha Family Empowerment (S.A.F.E.) and eventually to opening her own dance studio Annie’s Little Angels. Here is where she shared her talents and passion with enthusiasm while teaching her students. Valencia had a strong love for children, welcoming them into her care and being a part of their life. This love showed through her work in her community and at Learn Charter School where she worked.
In 2015 Valencia started dating her partner Marseil Jackson and later gave birth to their two children Marseil Jackson Jr. and Maddix Jackson. Through her boys MJ and Maddix, Valencia experienced LOVE like no other.
On Monday, February 23, 2026, Valencia made her transition into eternal life with her family by her side.
